Divine Daughters
A concert of beautiful music composed and inspired by women poets and saints.
The concert featured several early music selections including “O Clarissima Mater”, an extended chant by Hildegard von Bingen and a unique reconstruction of an ancient setting of “The Song of Ruth” in Hebrew. The program also included works by Samuel Barber, the premiere of “ASTERSONGS” based on poems by Edna St. Vincent Millay, by Broomfield composer Alex Craig and “Songs of Sappho” by local composer Grace Asquith. A group of singers from the Broomfield Voice Festival will join ASTER in a reprise of “O Unico Amore” which was commission”ed by the choir last year. This work honors Mother Cabrini and was composed by Boulder composer Kathleen Fagre. Ione Caley and Ruth Harvey will accompany the choir with Celtic harp, and recorder.
