ASTER is taking a lighthearted turn with this concert. The mirth-filled music we have chosen will bring gentle smiles, belly laughs, giggles and guffaws.
Colorado composer Kari Kraakevik’s new work “Quire in Qwerty – That Almost Sentient Mechanism” for choir, piano and amplified typewriter will be premiered and is guaranteed to make you think differently about the quick brown fox who jumps over the lazy dog!
Selections by soloists from the choir include “Summer in Ohio”, “Whatever Happened to My Part”, “What a Movie”, “This Place is Mine”, and “All for the Best”. Choral works include “I Sing, You Sing” by the Real Group, a setting of parlor game poems by Jane Austen and her Mother and “Would Like to Meet” which tells the tale of an energetic sea lion looking for love.
The choir has surprises in store for you!
** Note: Due to renovations at the Broomfield Auditorium, this concert will be presented at a different venue.

ASTER Women’s Chamber Choir partnered with the Broomfield Symphony Orchestra for our December concert, and it was a hit! If you would like to learn more about the BSO or purchase tickets to one of their concerts at the Broomfield Auditorium, visit their website at
ASTER sang an a cappella set which includes playful pieces from Scandinavia and seasonal favorites Away in the Manger, Carol of the Bells and White Christmas.

Shakespeare has influenced playwrights and composers from the time his plays were first performed (in London around 1592) to the present day. ASTER will offer pieces heard during Shakespeare’s lifetime, a charming set of acapella works by composer Amy Beach, a jazzy set by Clifford Stillwell, Jr., and excerpts from the musicals Kiss Me Kate and West Side Story. Actors will perform soliloquies and sonnets to round out the concert.
